On a Positive Note, We Don't Get Snowstorms in Florida

Sunday July 20, 2008
This week's issue of Time Magazine, July 21, 2008 paints a rather grim picture of the state of Florida, referring to it as the 'Sunset State.' Though the nation as a whole is beset with housing market woes, higher than normal unemployment and state budget cut-backs, it seems that the State of Florida is being hit harder than most.

A few figures on how Florida ranks in the nation:

  • First for mortgage fraud
  • Second for foreclosures
  • Last in high school graduation rates...
Ouch! The article goes on to point out many of Florida's shortcomings, current issues and a few anticipated catastrophes that could possibly beset the state. At least there was no mention of our prior voting faux pas or Lou Pearlman. The only positive takeaway was on our great winter weather - nothing about Florida's beautiful beaches, world class attractions or excellent universities.

Curious on how the Orlando Real Estate Market has done in the last year. Check out the graphs provided by the Orlando Regional Realtor Association.
