Where to Shop for
Thanksgiving Day Dinner?

Friday November 14, 2008
I've been dreading going out to do my Thanksgiving dinner grocery shopping now that my favorite local Albertson's has closed. Well it's actually been closed for several months - my freezer is now empty and I'm just about out of canned goods. If I'm ever going to have fresh produce in my house again I'm going to have to find a 'new' favorite, corner grocery store. My choices are the new Publix (that replaced Albertsons on SR 434), the Publix on Wekiva Springs Rd. or the Publix on SR 434 Jamestown... Hmmm, If I don't choose Publix, I can buy in bulk from Costco, or make the drive to Winn Dixie or Super Walmart - the only one open 24/7.

Not that there is anything wrong with Publix, it's just me. I like the freedom to shop whenever - be it 6 am or midnight. I like the super 10/$10 specials, un-bagged produce, being overwhelmed with variety and twenty registers open at once.

Let me hear from some die-hard Albertson's fans. How are you coping? Are you making the effort to find Albertsons that have not closed down? Have you graciously embraced Publix as "Your Store?" Post your comments below.

How you think when the economic crisis will end? I wish to make statistics of independent opinions!
